¡Bienvenidos a la clase de Señora Johnson!
I am so excited to have the opportunity to spend the year with you exploring the Spanish language and culture. I hope to make this an exciting, active and productive year so that you leave my course feeling inspired to continue your exploration of the Spanish language and culture and confident that you have the tools to succeed in both the classroom and in your encounters with native speakers.
Who is Señora Johnson?
I am originally from Virginia Beach. I attended Virginia Tech and earned degrees in Business Marketing and Spanish. Post college, I worked in the business world for a wireless phone company. In the wireless industry I started out as a competitive and marketing analyst. I progressed to the position of a pricing manager designing the rate plans that our company would sell to end users. My marketing and business background not only give me real world perspective but also lend me an expertise in how to best present and teach information in a way that is both aesthetic and organized to the eye and also very easy to digest to any type of student that I may teach.
After leaving the business world, I attended The University of Virginia where I earned a Post Graduate Master of Teaching. I spent my first 8 years teaching in Albemarle County at Monticello High School and Walton Middle School. I then explored the elementary realm of teaching spending 2 years teaching Spanish to grades Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade in Charlottesville City Schools. I joined the AHS family in 2013.
